I baked this Princess Celestia Cake and you can, too!!
It was kind of nerve racking, and I was really worried I would mess it up, but the quote we got from the baker was way over our budget.
I used this set of Wilton cake pans from amazon (affiliate link), and filled them with the equivalent of two boxes of cake mix.
The Princess Celestia cake topper is actually a Funko figurine! It's not edible, but it worked for what we needed.
The gold glitter candle was also an amazon buy, and was so perfect!!!
I baked the tiers and let them cool overnight. I leveled them, placed them on cake cardboard rounds (I got mine at Walmart) and did a basic crumb coat using a basic buttercream recipe I have had for years now, it's nothing special, just butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and half and half. After the crumb coat was on and chilled for 30 minutes, I added a nice layer of buttercream, then I used a paper towel to protect the top of the cake, carefully picked up the cake, and rolled the sides into the cake decorating sugar or sprinkles. I then went back and touched up the "bald" spots as best I could. The sprinkles were picked up at Safeway and were under $5. I made a mix of all the multicolored sprinkles I could find for the middle tier.
I eyeballed the placement of the tiers ontop of each other. Since this cake wasn't going anywere besides my house, I didn't use dowels to stabilize the tiers, I just set them on top of each other. If it was leaving my house I definitely would have used at least bubble tea straws to keep it steady.
The birthday girl loved it and hopefully you guys can make your own too!!!
