Fitbit Ionic First Impressions

It's finally here!  I'm really excited about the new Ionic. I've been using the Fitbit Charge 2 for the last year and while I really like it,  it's lack of built in GPS has left me unhappy.  The GPS in the charge 2 works off your phone,  and mine was just not reliable.  I run with a running club,  and more often than not my distances would be off by as much as .5 mile from the rest of the girls.  On one hike,  there was a 2 mile discrepancy between my charge 2 and a Garmin Fenix 5. So I needed to upgrade to something with built in GPS. I'm not a super serious runner or hiker, but I run enough (10 miles a week average) and hike at least a couple of times a month, so I decided the Ionic would be a happy medium for me, especially since I have an android phone and won't be getting an apple watch. Although the Garmin Fenix is a super cool watch, I just couldn't do with the price tag. At $299, the Ionic was definitely in my price range.

The Ionic looks so sleek and modern!  It's definitely much bigger than the charge 2, and it looks even bigger on my small wrist, but I like it!

My impression of the unboxing was similar to that of the Charge 2. Everything was neatly packaged and the charging usb cord came in a sealed plastic package. The Ionic comes with both small and large bands, which is great if you're unsure or what size you are.

I'll get a better idea of how the Ionic performs during a run tomorrow, but I really am so excited to try it out. I'm sure it's going to be a big improvement from the Charge 2.

Do you guys own a fitness tracker or smartwatch? What features do you most look for in a watch?
